I hope that we will be feeling the "cooler" weather soon. You know in Texas that means anything in the 80's.
The Pumpkin Patch Field Trip is this Wednesday. Our scheduled time is 9:30am, sharp, so we are asking you to arrive at 9:15-9:20am. We will begin at 9:30. It is a fun time, be sure to take pictures. Afterwards, we will have our regular schedule pizza lunch at school. You must inform your child's teacher if you plan on taking them home after the field trip. The extended care room will be open from 7:00am to 9:00am Wednesday morning only, Miss Jan will be leaving the building at 9:05 to join us. We will re-open at 11:30am. You may drop off your child once the teachers have returned. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Many of you have started to utilize car line in the morning. Please remember the times, 8:50 to 9:00am. Please stay in your car, let the teachers get your child out. It sends a confusing message to the children if you get them when you get out of the car but don't walk them in. It really is best to allow the Montessori approach to begin first thing when arriving at school. Thank you for your understanding, if you have any questions regarding this, please let me know.
All of the students are really doing a good job in class. The newer ones are adapting to the Montessori Curriculum really well. It does take patience and time. In all of our rooms, even Miss Maggie and Miss Jan's room, the Montessori approach is used in all of our teachings, beginning with learning how to be in a classroom and managing your belongings. If you have questions on what this means or would like to more about Maria Montessori and her approach, I can give you some reading materials. You can also schedule a time to confer with your child's teacher on the expectations of children in the classroom.
It is best for any child to have a balance of school and home, please help your child in this by asking them to help with simple household chores, especially their belongings. Having the same expectations at home and school is a good balance of how children will learn that their behavior and manners are expected at all times and all places.
Children are great imitators, so give them something great to imitate.
